Week 6: Layering | 2018 Project 52

Layering is perhaps one of my very favorite photography techniques and can be done in all kinds of different ways. In difficult or rather uninteresting photo situations, I try to find ways to layer my composition to add some color to my image or to help frame the subject in a unique way.

Now, we all know I have a love for photographing my cats (have you seen their Instagram?! Gotta get back on there...) and I thought this was yet another perfect opportunity. I was very inspired by this photo on Instagram from the Cab Collection and have been dying to recreate it. I coerced my cats to get comfy on my bed then set up a mirror on a side table infront of them. I surrounded the mirror with a colorful item of clothing, did my best to get their attention, and shot my image through the mirror. I love how these images turned out and am hoping to use this technique again with some product photography.

This image was taken for my weekly Project 52 challenge.
